ERIC fresher research program

ERIC fresher research program is a training-series program in economic research for undergraduate students. The program is held by Economic Research and Information Center (ERIC), administrated by Environment and Economy Partnership for Southest Asea (EEPSEA), under the sponsorship of Vietnam The Netherlands Programe (VNP) and EfD Vietnam in University of Economics HCMC.

Objective

The training series focuses on practical skills in economic research to support undergraduates get familiar with and involve in real research process. The program was initiated to support passionate young students enhance economic toolbox besides the research knowledge in school. In the program, the paticipants will go through steps of a research process under the guidance of instructors and supervisors. By that, the program covers mini courses and tutorials which follow a real research process. Trainees in the program will have further opportunities to practice those skills in research projects held by ERIC and partners. Excellent trainees can be considered for positions of interns.

Candidates
  • sophomore, junior and senior undergraduates from any university
  • passionate interest in economic research
  • background in economics is preferred
  • basic grounding in mathematics, statistics, and econometrics is considered as an advantage.
  • English competence is an advantage
Content of program

Emphasizing on practicing, the paticipants will go step by step through a research process under the guidance of instructors and supervisors. The core of the program is a series of five mini courses on practical research skills. They are Survey research, Data Analysis in business and economics using R, Using GIS in economic research, Academic Writing, and Document preparation with Latex. Besides mini courses, there are tutorials with instructors and supervisors to complete a research. Main language of the program will be Vietnamese.
